DIY Recipe for Summer Herbal Hair Rinse
Mix up this easy to use herbal rinse. Use a bowl to catch the rinse water, and repeat a few times. Once your hair and scalp are saturated with it, let dry naturally!
Here’s How:
- Steep your desired herbs in 1/2 cup of water until cool. Strain the herbs out of the infusion.
- Add herbal infusion and vinegar to 1 quart of tepid water.
- Pour herbal mixture over hair and scalp, catching it in a clean bowl. Repeat until all of hair and scalp is saturated with herbal mixture.
- Towel dry and allow hair to dry completely, without using a hair dryer.
Herb Suggestions
- To promote hair growth: stinging nettle, rosemary, peppermint, basil
- To prevent or treat dandruff: rosemary, tea tree
- To add highlights to light hair: mullein, chamomile
- To highlight dark hair: rosemary, raspberry leaf, sage
- For dry hair: comfrey, sage, marshmallow, stinging nettle, calendula
- For oily hair: yarrow, rosemary, witch hazel bark
Tips:
- Try skipping your shampoo every other day. On these days, still use the herbal rinse.
- Use a gentle shampoo to wash your hair. If you do use something off the shelf, still rinse with herbal infusion.
- Once a week, try working one Tablespoon of olive oil into dry hair and scalp before shampooing. For deep conditioning, leave on hair overnight.
