What is Imbolc?

Imbolc, Brigid’s Day, or Candlemas is a Pagan Sabbat. It is honored to celebrate the coming of spring, the awakening of nature after a long cold winter season. Imbolc is celebrated on February 1st in the Northern Hemisphere and on August 1st in the Southern Hemisphere.

Celtic traditions celebrate Imbolc as Brigid’s Day to honor the Celtic fertility goddess Brigid.

Imbolc is a time to celebrate the coming of spring, a time of purification, awakening, cleansing, planting seeds, fertility, and renewal.
